This project consisted of the design, construction and commissioning of the 10MW hydroelectric plant in the Piedras River, near the Boquerón comunity. The work included the management of the supply contracts, installation and testing of all hydro-mechanical,electro-mechanical equipment and commission the entire hydroelectric plant. Primary activities included the construction of the main dam structure, more than 5km of paved access roads, construction of the engine house building, the sub-station and an 8.3km long transmission line. More than 500,000m3 of earth and rock were excavated, and 2.5km of FLOWTITE pipe were installed. The conduction pipe was 2.9m in diameter and had a 65m head drop to the engine house main intake; over 19,000m3 of concrete were formed and poured for the main pump house dam, sand trap and buttress on both sides of the river. Work includes the construction of all temporary structures to detour and channel the Piedras river, which is one of the country’s largest rivers.
